Bathroom Cleaning Tips

Bathroom Cleaning Tips

If you don’t like bathroom cleaning, you are not alone. Most homeowners feel the same way. But you have to do this job anyway. After all, the glint of a gleaning shower screen and the shine of a limescale-free tap can make you feel very happy.

If you want to make your bathroom sparkle without a lot of effort, we suggest that you follow the bathroom cleaning tips given below.

Here are some tips and tricks that may help you in your bathroom cleaning to be more efficiently:

Showers, basins, and baths

You can use a bathroom cleaner to remove grease and clean your sanitary ware. But it is not a good idea to apply this solution to your plated fittings and taps. If you don’t want to use chemical solutions, you can make your own cleaner.

You can prepare a cleaner by mixing three ingredients in equal quantities: Borax, bicarbonate of soda, and salt. After you have prepared the mixture, you should sprinkle some on a soft cloth or damp sponge. And then you should use this sponge to scrub and clean.

You can use this mild abrasive cleaner on plastic surfaces. The good thing is that it won’t leave any scratches behind. After bathroom cleaning, you may want to rinse thoroughly.

Another effective solution is known as White vinegar. You can use it to remove limescale and soap scum from shower screens, tiles, sinks, and bathtubs. If there are stubborn stains, you can leave the solution for a while and then rinse clean.

Here it is essential to keep in mind that vinegar can cause damage to metal-plated surfaces. Therefore, you may not want to use this approach.

Deodorising

Deodorising Bathroom

Bicarbonate of soda can help you eliminate unpleasant odours. If you want your bathroom to smell fresh, you may want to place a small container with bicarbonate of soda on a surface to absorb nasty whiffs.

Apart from this, you may want to sprinkle a little bit of bicarbonate of soda to eliminate the smell from your waste bin. We suggest that you do this on a regular basis, especially when you empty the bins. So after you have emptied the bins, you may use a bathroom cleaner or the mixture you prepared to wash each bin.

Floors

You can use the same bathroom cleaner to clean your ceramic bathroom tiles.

Mirrors

You may want to clean your bathroom Mirrors on a regular basis. For this purpose, you may use white vinegar and a clean piece of soft rag. If you don’t want to leave scratches on the Mirrors, you may use an old newspaper to wipe the mirrors.

Septic tanks

If you want to clean septic tanks, you can use a store-bought bathroom cleaning. Alternatively, you can use your homemade cleaner as well.

Shower curtains

If you have vinyl curtains for your shower, you can use baking soda to clean and deodorize them. After sprinkling soda on the curtains, you can use a brush or damp sponge for rubbing and scrubbing.

After scrubbing for a while, you should rinse, clean, and hang the curtains to dry. If you notice mildew on the curtains, you can use a strong bathroom cleaner to wash them.

Shower screens

If you have watermarks and limescale on your shower screens, you can apply some white vinegar on the shower screens and wait for at least 10 minutes before wiping or rinsing. This treatment will restore the shine of your shower screens.

If you want to access those hard-to-access areas, you can sprinkle some white vinegar on an old toothbrush and use it to clean those areas.

Baths and sinks

You can use a mixture of baking soda and water to remove dirt and grime from these bathroom fixtures. Since this solution is mildly abrasive, it won’t leave scratches on the surface of your bathroom sinks and baths.

All you need to do is pour some of the liquid on these fixtures and then use a cloth or sponge to wipe them down. Finally, you may want to rinse with water to remove the residue.

Sinks and drains

You can put one mark of soda crystals into the plughole and pour some hot water to dissolve the soda crystal slowly. It’s a good idea to do this at least once a week. The idea is to dissolve grease and remove shampoo and soap scum accumulation. These elements are responsible for blocking your sinks and drains, and it’s better to use baking soda to prevent the blockage from time to time.

Combs, flannels, and sponges

You can remove the grease and freshen up your combs, flannels, and sponges. All you need to do is soak these items in a solution of soda crystals.

Tiles and grouting

Again, you can use a solution of soda crystals to clean your bathroom tiles and grouting. After this treatment, your tiles and grout will get their shine back.

Toilets

You may flush a liberal amount of soda crystals to clean your toilet and prevent blockage. Similarly, you can use white vinegar to remove limescale build-up from your lavatory bowl. All you need to do is drop the soda into the bowl and flush it away the following morning.

If you can notice brown mineral stains on your toilet, you may not be able to remove them using bleach alone. In this case, you may need to pour some acid to dissolve and remove the stains.

Pour hot water in a bucket, put 250g of citric acid, and dissolve it. Shake the bucket and pour the mixture into your toilet. This process will dissolve the deposits until the following day. Then you can use a toilet brush to scrub and remove the remaining residues.

Finally, if you don’t have the time to follow these tips for bathroom cleaning, we suggest that you hire the services of professional cleaners.
