9 Eco Friendly Tips For Cleaning Our Homes

There are different ways to clean your home. There are eco-friendly ways, and there are also chemical-based cleaning products. The latter has its own pitfalls. Some of them are high costs, health implications, and how harmful they can be to the environment. So, now that you have an idea of what their implications are, we can confidently tell you that the former has little or no negative effects. That’s why eco products are more popular than ever and are gaining widespread popularity. Despite not having any negative impacts on humans and the environment in general, they are also as effective just as chemical-based products.

In this blog, we will be looking at some eco-friendly tips for cleaning the home. To get our bonus tip, make sure you stay with us till the end of the blog. It will be worth your time. So, without much ado.

These are eco-friendly cleaning tips:

Natural Cleaning Products

Use baking soda for cleaning

One of the best nature cleaners you can see around you every day is baking soda. This mild alkaline substance (also known as sodium bicarbonate) is a deodorant, abrasive, and much more. Just a thick paste of water and baking soda can effectively tackle the issue of rust. It can also serve as an all-purpose cleaner for removing grease and oil.

Use lemon for cleaning

Just like baking soda, lemon is another wonderful product for cleaning. It can act as an antiseptic because of its high antibacterial properties and can also be used as a deodorizer because of its high acidic content. So, if your copper or aluminum items are losing their shine or your plastic containers have stubborn stains, lemon can come to the rescue. All you have to do is use lemon with either white vinegar or baking soda, depending on what you want to do. You can rub lemon on surfaces to disinfect them or use it with vinegar to tackle odors.

Use white vinegar in different applications

It is a weak acid that has different cleaning applications across many areas of the home. It also has high antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Dilute it with some water, and you have made yourself a strong stain remover and natural deodorizer. It can also be combined with other natural compounds like baking soda and lemon juice to perform different functions.

Always pay attention to the cleanliness of your tiles

In bathrooms, toilets, and kitchens, there is a high tendency for an accumulation of mold. This is very unhealthy and unpleasant to the eye. You can get rid of the mold by mixing water and white vinegar in a spray bottle and spraying it on the affected parts. In cases where the mold does not come off, you can add baking soda to the mix. You can leave the mixture on the affected areas for a while before washing it off.

Take care of your windows

This is yet another area of application of vinegar. Fill up a spray bottle with water and white vinegar, then use a microfiber cloth to clean the windows thoroughly to avoid streaking. It is also very effective for cleaning mirrors.

Try to descale your kettles often

Vinegar is still your best friend here, although lemon can also be used here. Just mix water and white vinegar or lemon juice in the right proportions and boil in the kettle. When the mixture boils, pour it out and rinse the kettle to remove any scales.

Pay special attention to your bathrooms and toilets

Here, you just need baking soda to get the job done on your toilet bowls and bathroom tubs. Just apply the baking soda to the affected parts and let them sit for some time. Then, use some white vinegar to wet the areas and after a while, wash off with warm water.

Clean your kitchen every day, especially the oven

Ovens are always known to accumulate dirt and rust due to their frequent usage. You can apply baking soda to the bottom of the oven and allow it to sit overnight before scrubbing off the residue and wiping off the surface. You can use clean water and some lemon to clean the body of the oven and make it clean, shiny, and attractive to the eye.

Keep the dishwasher

For a thorough wash of the dishwasher in your home, you should opt for white vinegar and not the chemical-based products sold in stores. The natural cleaning products will not only take care of the dirt; they will also take care of any bacteria or odors.

For the bonus tip:

Try to use these natural products to clean those parts of the house with the highest traffic

Some of these places are the sitting room, passages, and front of your homes. Dirt and germs are sure to reside there so you can always take care of them by using baking soda, white vinegar, and water.

Eco Friendly

Now that we know some of the eco-friendly ways we can clean our homes, we need to do the cleaning and apply these simple tips as much as we can.
